Happy Boys' Italian Adventure
Italian Food Restaurant
Menu:
Bread:
Bruschetta: Garlic Toast, n'duja, stracciatella, basil, pickled onions.
Simple in looks, but powerful in taste. Really enjoyed that spicy n'juda spread... just so satisfying and comforting.
Vegetables:
Zucchini ripieni: Stuffed Zucchini, ricotta filling, cherry tomato, mint, pecorino
Piselli e pancetta: Sauteed peas, smoked bacon, sage, stracciatella, silverbeet
So this zucchini, was incredible, and I would easily eat again. Yes, it may be the stuffed cheese talking... but I really enjoyed the flavors. And the pea dish, what better way to make me happy about devouring a veg than add smoked bacon & cheese... Its ingenious, and a nice way to start the mains :)
Seafood:
Calamari ripieni: Stuffed squid, prawn filling, orange, pickled fennel
Cacciucco: Seafood stew, barramundi, swordfish, mussels, prawns, squid, ciabatta
There is something magical about stuffing a prawn inside of calamari, some kind of wizardry but a tasty one indeed. I do love the citrus how it works with the seafood, I could probably eat two serves of just this and be happy :)
The seafood stew, is as you expect. A bowl of fresh local seafood, that is simply a must. I just couldn't get over all the variety in this, and just how fresh the product is.
Meat:
Arrosticini con piadina: Lamb Skewers, charred flatbread, aioli, rocket
Tagliata: 250g Rib Filet, jerusalem artichoke, rocket, parmesan, balsamic vinegar
Polpette: Veal and pork meatball, braised eggplant sauce, black olive
Juicy flavorful lamb skewers, delicious tender steak, and Veal & Pork meatballs... seriously there is no doubt their meat selection, it will knock you off your socks. I liked how the skewers were a little sweet.
Pasta and Grains:
Tortelli di zucca: Pumpkin filled pasta, sage, amaretti, currants, parmesan
Polenta: Soft white polenta, honey, truffle oil, hazelnuts
Pumpkin filled tortellini... Yes, please. Amazing smooth texture filled in these. And the flavor, is really delicious. I could really eat theses as mains, probably start with 2 plates at first and work my way through lol.
The polenta, it comes down to whether you're a fan of truffle or not. If you are, you will love that mix between truffle oil and honey... with the smooth polenta texture. Otherwise you will absolutely dislike this due to the trufflie :)
Sweets:
"Tiramisu": Chocolate lava cake, mascarpone ice-cream, espresso marsala syrup
Panna cotta: Pink pepper, strawberry, basil sorbet, biscotti, pistachio
The tiramisu was the first time in awhile I rushed to finish a dessert. The chocolate texture was spot on, the ice cream, all the way to the coffee syrup was very well done.
And panna cotta, pro- tip: Scoop all the flavors in each spoonful because together is bang on. Separately, the basil ice cream or the pink pepper may be a little too intense... but as one itreally works.
Definitely worth the trip!
Service was really lovely, wine selection is amazing, and the food is comfort.
Can't wait to come back for more.
