Devon Garden City

You almost don’t feel like you’re in the food court of Westfield Garden City.
Clean and spacious interior, definitely borrowed vibes from their North Sydney venue.
I may be slightly addicted to this place.

Menu:

Breakfast:

Drinks:

Can’t go past their house cold brew.
I was addicted when I first visited 3 years ago, and to this day I will still have this magnificent vial of greatness.

Food:

✔️ LOST IN THE TROPICS
- Brioche french toast . fresh and cooked mango . frosted corn flakes . pine lime cream . marigold

French toast and corn flakes… that is all I needed to read to want this in my stomach,
Soft and spongy, and refreshing with the fresh mango. It did lack cream (update: they have improved this dish after receiving feedback), so it was a little on the dry side.

✔️ CROISSANT ST DENIS
- Ghetto style omelette . blue swimmer crab and salmon . bisque beurre blanc . flying fish roe . fine herbs . French croissant

I remember when I first had this back in Sydney on a previous trip.
Fresh flaky croissant <3 a perfect companion to a nice meal.
Add a creamy omelette topped with intense flavors (like that crab and salmon) and you have a great breakfast. I’ve seen this plated a few times, but i definitely prefer the omelette separate to the croissant 🤤.

Dinner:

Entree:

✔️ CALAMARI
Lightly spiced fried calamari . green nahm jim . kewpie mayo

✔️ KING SALMON
carpaccio . finger lime . ponzu . tomato . chives . caviar

✔️ ZUCCHINI
heirloom squash . stracciatella . basil oil . spices . pomegranate

Deep-fried vegetables are my kind of vegetables, seriously... why can’t all vegetables be?
The zucchini was both beautiful and delicious. Calamari was light and crispy with a nice punchy flavor from the nahm jim. King salmon, always a favorite but with a nice sour hit from the ponzu and finger lime … and there’s enough to ‘share’ if you wish (you won’t).

Mains:

✔️ BARRAMUNDI
- Roasted Hamilton Island baby barramundi . stracciatella . zucchini basil

✔️ LAMB
- Slow roasted lamb neck on the bone . tomatoes . cumin . coriander

✔️ WAGYU
- Wagyu tenderloin . cep puree . sauteed mushrooms

Seriously I would eat this wagyu tenderloin everyday if I could, I really enjoyed the mushroom surprise underneath the meat ( I revealed it in the photo). I was surprised how much I enjoyed the lamb, so tender and seasoned nicely with cumin to lift the flavor. The barramundi was exceptionally fresh and full of flavor, nice and moist but crispy skin. :)

Desserts:

✔️ MY ASIAN COUSIN
Finger lime . mango sago . fresh mango . tapioca pearls . nata de coco . freeze dried mango . coconut sorbet

✔️ SUMMER PAVLOVA
Summer fruits . black sesame meringue . yuzu diplomat

Here’s where it gets even better… their desserts
I thought I would love the pavlova more since it sounds more sweet (my weakness, sugar), however ‘My Asian Cousin’ won my stomach over with the delicious layers of mango. It was just so refreshing, and not overly sweet. A nice note to end the evening with.

Summary

I’m not sure I’ll have to go to Sydney again anytime soon. (just kidding 😉)

I love this new addition to Brisbane’s food scene.
Competition brings innovation, and I can’t wait to see how this motivates Brisbane.

Can’t wait to come back and devour more, especially some more dessert and maybe a peanut butter and jam muffin.
