Dinner at Caravanserai
A nice night walk to a beautiful Turkish restaurant, on the side streets in West End.
We were not ready for what we were about to get into 😊
Upon arrival we looked at the drinks menu and decided on the lemonade. A nice giant pitcher of sweet goodness, reminded me of selling this back home for pocket money 😊.
Menu
Entrees
Dip Duo: babagounosh, humus, turkish bread
Peynir: halloumi, spicy olives, pomegranate salsa. fig chutney, crispy flat bread
With a quick look at the menu, we already knew what we were after.
Both of us are suckers for bread, and baba ganoush is so delicious. Really enjoyed the fresh crispy fried and all the sides (the fig chutney was so nice)
Mains
Platter For Two
chicken skewers, garlic prawns, ribs, kofta meatballs, grilled halloumi, green bean and roasted almond salad, rice, pickles, sauces and warm pide.
Oh ribs ❤ such a perfect touch to this platter for two.
So much variety and flavor, we did not go home hungry. I really enjoyed how moist the meat was, and how nothing lacked flavor. Just a really well rounded meal to warm us up on this cold night. Only one more thing to do after a giant meal like this … dessert 😉.
Dessert
Baklava w. Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
Frangelico Fig Mousse
Turkish Coffee
Sweet treats, my favorite.
I really enjoyed the baklava …rich & sweet layers of filo filled with chopped nuts, sweetened and held together with syrup. The ice cream was a nice addition to balance.
For the mousse it was rich in hazelnut taste, leading my girlfriend to demolish it in no time. I’m told it was delicious, and I do not doubt this 😋.
To finish the evening I had to try the Turkish coffee. So bitter and strong, one shot was enough 😊.
Conclusion
Really well balanced menu, beautiful and unique venue, with really friendly staff.
I can’t wait to come back and try some more of their delicious food… and just relax in good company.
