Ranchi-yō no Moga (lunch at Moga)

“We don’t eat enough Asian food” … A common phrase I hear from my girlfriend, needless to say I think this satisfied that itch. Lets enter this beautiful venue 😊

Drinks

Kyo No 'Gold Flake' Sake

Plum Martini

House made Plum wine with Premium vodka and dash of soda

What a way to start.

The gold flake sake gave us a dry and balanced flavor, the gold flakes really complimented this drink. Drink it slow, this 14% alcohol is a strong one 😉. The plum martini, rich fruit flavors and adds a sweet note to a classic cocktail that's perfect for unwinding… now bring on the delicious food.

The Start to Food Coma

Large Sashimi Platter

If you read my girlfriends work, you can tell her weakness is raw fish. Needless to say when we saw they offered two sizes of sashimi we went the largest (even though I feel there isn’t a sashimi platter too large for her 😂).
This platter was occupied by thick slices of fresh barramundi, tuna, scallop, salmon, and kingfish… It was a great starter to our Japanese experience here in Rosalie.

Salmon Avocado Hand Roll & Tempura Prawn Hand Roll
Crispy thin nori rolls are amazing. I loved these cone shaped treats that wrapped the fresh goods. In particular the crispy prawn was my favorite, but anything with tobiko is delicious. I just really enjoyed how it wasn’t overpowered by the seaweed taste.

… and then she was still hungry for more 😂👌

Salmon Nigiri, Moga Roll, Unagi Nigiri, Flamed Hokkaido Scallop Nigiri

Traditional sushi, vinegared rice topped with slices of sushi-grade seafood… and just went down a treat. Not heavy, just right… a treat for your taste buds with only a slight dash of soy. Now with her full, it was time for me to finish up and have my treat 😉

Oysters, glorious oysters

Oyster Three Ways
smokey bay oysters with house made Yuzu jelly, Plum jelly and Ponzu jelly

A great way to finish, fresh oysters with some really great toppings. I really enjoyed the yuzu with its sour flavor, similar to a cross of a grapefruit and lime. Now… just going going to retire home for a bit of a nap 😊
