Korean Lunch at Jumak
Owner of the successful Brisbane CBD burger shop, Jee’s Burger, that prides itself with low prices and quality food has decided to follow his Korean roots and open an authentic Korean shop that is open until the early hours of 2am. Welcome to Jumak.
When you enter you are greeted to a full wood venue.
Beautiful furniture and decor (also, air-conditioning <3 ), just a really refined place… I’m ready for some food.
Food time:
First off the menu we had the lunch special, Bulgogi Bibimbap.
The cooked egg was a little unusual from my usual experience with bibimbap but the marinated beef was absolutely delicious… I definitely had more than half of this and I would easily order it again.
A must with any Korean restaurant Kimchi Pancake.
Soft and chewy, and a delight with each mouthful.
We had trouble at first cutting it up, but in the end out hunger took over and we just had at it :)
Really delicious and so large in size.
Next dish was the Pork Belly, delicious sweet sauce and insanely tender. So much on the plate and at a really great lunch time special price. The normal size is a bit bigger and a little more pricey, but I think the lunch portion was a great amount to share…. especially when there was more to come :)
Stir Fried Spicy Beef Abomasum - So this was a bonus. I was told to not ask but just try it. So that made me think twice what it could be.However this was nice and chewy, and the added spice was really enjoyable. I later googled the beef type and found out it is the fourth and final stomach compartment in ruminants. It produces rennet, which is used in cheese creation. All in all i’m glad I tried it, it was really tasty and probably something I wouldn’t have normally ordered :) .
Conclusion:
A really wonderful and authentic Korean experience.
Beautiful venue, extensive menu, nice lunch time savings, and really polite staff.
Definitely need to come back for more!
