Sugar Puff Cafe Garden City
So Sugar Puff is a dessert place that recently opened in Westfield Garden City, Brisbane.
It is quite an interesting dessert cafe that caters to many yet can be considered quite a niche market.
They serve plenty of waffles, cakes, drinks, shaved ice, sweet soups and a whole lot more. A lot of their desserts can be considered heavily Asian influenced….but we could really do with any kinds of desserts in Brisbane.
Brisbane as lovely as it is, unfortunately lacks quite a few things. Desserts mainly been one of them. So it was with wide welcomed arms that we invited Sugar Puff to our community.
We walked into a super adorable super PINK Sugar Puff, because that’s where real men go to 😂🤣. And of course because Miss Y wanted to go 😂. We found the interior to be really cute! Soft toys, bigger than us really were just chilling on the seats, comfy booth seating and most importantly! So many cakes to choose from!!! (drool city!)
We perused the cake cabinet, our mouths drooling over the choices 🤤 😂. Choices, choices, choices 🤔
Hey it was hard ok! All the cakes looked really good!
We finally settled on a few things (between the 2 of us 😂). We hadn’t tried the boba cakes yet. Previously we’d mostly gotten their boba drinks and waffles. This time we thought we’d try out the boba cakes!

Between the 2 items we ordered, my personal favourite was their Boba Thai milk tea cake. It was kept intact with a plastic covering. When we are getting ready to eat it, we tug the plastic up! and all the creamy goodness with the bobas (if we’ve done it well) will come rolling down.
It is really fun to watch! Especially if we’ve done it right! Especially on slow motion 😉. If only we could control where the slow motion starts and stops. We’d then be able to watch as the boba and cream roll gently down the cake. It's such a grand sight!
So once we’ve ‘released the cake’ so to speak 😆 we then enjoy it. The chiffon on the bottom is soooo soft and fluffy! and it had of course absorbed some of the sweet cream that came with the boba. The chiffon as you can see, is baked really well!
The cake stood tall - not caved in, no visible holes or air pockets noticed. The sponge was light, airy, fluffy, bouncy and it was quite moist.
The waffle was eggy, and slightly sweet with a crisp and chewy center. So much toppings were placed on top. It was like a sugar high calling for us to consume it 😂.
It was quite pretty to look at and tasty to eat ❤️
One thing that has us, especially Miss Y coming back for more is the collagen based drinks. They have what they call the “Collagen Sweet Soup of the Day” (which is particularly favoured).
In the sweet soup, it contains; barley, sweet date, lily bulb, snow fungus, goji berry. These ingredients are slow cooked in rock sugar (which is sugar that seems to be less sweet and maybe slightly healthier? 😂)
To my knowledge, all those ingredients are all beneficial to people in general. These are foods that are commonly and regularly? consumed by our Asian counterparts. Maybe this is what helps them maintain their youthful looks and beauty? 🤔 I need to invest 😂
All the ingredients from what I’ve read from Dr. Google either; aids digestion, helps with bloating, packed with many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and everything good. All of these benefits packed into one little soup...why wouldn’t we come back for more? 😂 I feel healthy after drinking it 🤣. But I really do enjoy the soup. It is quite tasty.

I really like this venue, the service is good and the food is fantastic ❤️
If there’s one thing I’d like to change, is probably the air conditioning. Even during summer it’s pretty cold! Kinda sucks for the venue, as I imagine it’s out of their control. But…. we can just sit outside 🤣
Oh yea. Again out of their control, but I want more seating!!! 😂😂😂
