Brisbane's Newest Breakfast Spot, Six Feet Under
Hidden off the main street in Newstead is a cafe that is ready to ruffle up Brisbane’s current cafe scene. Set in a massive (150 seats), isolated, relaxed, Melbourne-inspired space (think, brick & exposed ceiling, with a moody ambiance), this new venue is definitely going to win the hearts of many newcomers 😊
Menu:
What we had:
Coffee (… of course 😉)
No, breakfast can be had without starting with coffee.
After the walk in this crazy weather coffee was badly needed.
Our usual Long Black (no ice lol), and Skinny Cap. Delicious to the end 😊.
Scallops
Scallops, black pudding, pea panna cotta, pumpkin, broad beans, puffed pork rind
The panna cotta was so refreshing, and desired for this summer weather.
Scallops had an incredible sear and a nice bite to them, which made me wish there was more 😋.
Cured Salmon
Gin + passion fruit gravlax, cucumber, kohlrabi, buttermilk, yuzu gel, 63 degree egg
Off-topic: I’m glad she didn’t get her usual eggs on toast. This was so much better 😂
The intensity of the yuzu gel was magnificent, I really enjoyed that sour hit ❤
The salmon was nicely sliced, cured but full of its raw flavor. Beautifully plated, and just a treat to eat. Also, beautiful yolk porn 😉.
Conclusion:
Incredible job by these guys.
I have been following Andrew (@euphoric_bernard) since he began at The New Black. His food has always been next level and ahead of most in Brisbane. I’m glad to see him in a bigger kitchen and venue… so much potential.
