The Star Hotel: A Weekend Away
After the flight back from Melbourne, I was off on another another adventure.
The five-star hotel, The Star Grand, combines the ultimate in luxury with stunning contemporary design. The Star Grand’s 596 hotel rooms has finished refurbishment, complemented by a refreshed property arrival experience and luxurious poolside amenities… I was in for a treat.
First up… Lunch 😊
Long Table Lunch at Cucina Vivo
Menu:
Let the feast begin:
Needed the coffee, haven’t had one since leaving Melbourne so this was to prepare my body for the food coma that was to come. If I had to pick favorites it would be between the ravioli and the pork fillet. The ravioli just blew me away with that delicious roast pumpkin filling and topped with burnt butter…. I could have had two plates, easily. The pork fillet was moist meat served in delicious red wine jus, bliss.
Dessert:
And it would be illegal to end this epic feast without dessert, they definitely weren’t lacking.
I loved that Tiramisu, ok I have a weakness for coffee… but I really enjoyed this smooth texture of caffeine goodness. Also that little brulee topped with blueberries went down a treat 😊.
Then after stuffing my stomach full of delicious food I finally retired to the room, to have a bit of a rest before dinner … and to clear some room for more food 😊.
The Renovated Room:
Little surprises in the room 😊
I can really get used to this escape.
And with a few hours until dinner time, I decided to have a shower and relax for awhile.
It’s not often I get a luxury treat like this… I wish I could do this more often 😊
Dinner at The Imperial:
What I Had:
Green Tea
Foie Gras & Lobster Dumpling w. Fresh Chilli Sauce
Deep-fried crispy chicken w. Golden Garlic
Almond Tofu
Chef Song Yao Su Special Dessert Selection
Service and the quality of food was impeccable.
Silky skin on the dumpling, encased the meaty morsel that I devoured in seconds.
Crispy chicken is just as described, and that was delicious. I really enjoyed the hit of cracking and the crispy skin… should’ve ordered two.
The dessert, I wanted to try something different and leant towards this tofu (and what a wise move). Sweet, but not over sweet just right. And the texture was divine, a really nice way to end the evening.
As a bonus their was another plate of special desserts by the chef, the sesame ball filled with peanut was my kind of rich treat. Just couldn’t get over the quality of food from here.
.. and I had to take a photo of these amazing guys before I left.
Next time, they will be on my plate 😉
Breakfast Buffet at Garden Kitchen & Bar:
This place was like a magical playground of breakfast selection
There was a omelette station, pancake maker, an orange juicer, and bain-maries filled of all the goods from crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, all the way to waffles… I badly needed the fruit to balance ❤.
Needless to say I think I did well to create a balance.
Although I wish I went to the omelette station as well (and grabbed more scrambled eggs 😊)
My second time staying overnight in this enchanted venue, and I can’t wait to come back again.
I really love the upgrades, the refresh in the rooms from all the art was lovely. Really couldn’t get over how comfortable that bed was, I’m going to miss it lol.
See you soon, Gold Coast!
