Breakfast at King Street Bakery
Due to the latest restrictions, we have been unable to dine in at our regular coffee shops and cafes. Sad times, but it is for the best we understand.
Miss Y loves getting some pastries from King Street Bakery that looks like it is baked fresh daily. Recently, Miss Y has been quite obsessed with pies. Pie Town, King Street Baker, The Standard Market at Gasworks….pies pies pies! 😂
What we had:
The chicken leek pie we recently got from King Street bakery was so delicious!!! We’d actually had it twice for breakfast 🤐🤤. The first time we had it, it was sooooo amazing.
The pastry was so buttery, so rich, so flakey. 🤤
The chicken meat was so tender, really tasted like it had been stewed for a long time. The chicken had really absorbed the earthy flavors of the veggies that were stewed together with the meat. One of the veggies used in this pie was the leek.
Despite mild in flavor, it has a slight sweetness to it that when stewed for a little while, completely melts in your mouth. Looking at the vegetable, it doesn’t look easy to cook but if you clean it properly (mainly the dirt at the bottom of the root) and cut it up nicely it is actually a very tasty veggie to use.
Despite it being green and evil looking, it is probably one of my favourite soups that I’ve enjoyed in the past. 🤤😍
The second pie we had (because the first pie was so amazing 🤤🤤 and memorable) was a week lately 😂 (maybe less). Was unfortunately not as good! We couldn’t really understand it, because usually King Street Bakery tend to be quite consistent in their baked foods they sell. We could only assume it is because of the current situation…. 😥😔

It is a tough period everyone….especially those in retail and hospitality….we must push through and support each other!
PS: The surrounding area of King Street was as wonderful as ever. Just a tad more quieter… but the ambience, the service, the food? Top notch! 🤩
