Dinner at Polpetta Italian Kitchen and Bar
Prior to the Covid 19 and all the social distancing restrictions kicking in, Miss Y and I enjoyed an amazing dinner at Polpetta Italian Kitchen.
We both enjoy Italian food and I had been wanting to try Polpetta for quite some time!
We got seated quite comfortably in a nice little corner away from the air con vent, Miss Y gets chilled quite easily. The venue was really quite lovely, spaced out beautifully.
Menu:
We perused the menu, I was tossing up between the pork and the beef….it was a hard choice! They both sounded great! I don’t usually prefer pork, but the ‘spiced smoked maple syrup’ had me intrigued so I was quite curious. Even after a quick chat with the wait staff, it was still a hard choice! They made both sound so delicious 🤤😂. I still decided to go with the tenderloin beef.
Even Miss Y had a hard time….it was a toss up between the Bucantini with the prawns or the Rigatoni with the braised beef ragu (both Miss Y’s favorite) ….choices choices but…. seafood won 😂
As everyone knows, dessert is a must with every meal 😁 so to preserve stomach space we shared a antipasti of the Burrata (we were in an Italian restaurant….so we *had* to have cheese 😂). The burrata cheese was amazing! So creamy and complimented the peperonata perfectly - a bit sweet/sour a bit creamy….it was delicious 😍
Look how creamy it was….it was so melt in our mouths! (and it did 🤤)
Next came our mains….
Miss Y’s Bucantini with Queensland prawn came out first. It was beautifully presented with a delicious seafoody smell. They were quite generous with the amount of seafood that was on the plate! Every time Miss Y ate a prawn, it looked like there was another hiding beneath the Bucantini noodles! 😂
Usually, I’m not a big fan of Bucantini...I tend to find that it doesn’t always get cooked long enough, so it's slightly a bit too al dente to my liking. But I found Polpetta cooked it to a nice consistency so that it was firm, yet not too firm that it was too hard to chew on. I really enjoyed the texture. It was also seasoned quite well, as the most common thing I hear from Miss Y is that “its too salty” 😂😂😂
My beef shoulder tenderloin looked so amazing, so tender (and I’m a sucker for potatoes 😂) I cut into the tenderloin and I’m sure it wasn’t that the knife was just extra sharp...it was that the tenderloin was actually that tender! 🤤
I really enjoyed the flavour of the tenderloin, but Miss Y found it a little bit too salty for her taste. I imagine it was the pancetta that added the extra flavor to the plate overall. I personally quite enjoyed the flavors on my plate, but I quite like pancetta I found it really enhances the flavors of the beef and changed the flavours slightly to what I expected. All in all, I really enjoyed my dish, and Miss Y enjoyed hers 😂
Before I get into our desserts (yes 2….it sounded too good to just have 1 😂) I nearly forgot our drinks! Miss Y enjoys the occasional cocktail and….anyone who has met me knows I don’t really like alcohol 😅.
The ‘Pink Koala’ sounded really intriguing….I mean, Koalas is Australia's national treasure and who doesn’t like koalas….they're so adorable! 😍 The combination also sounded quite good, Eucalyptus vodka (what is Eucalyptus vodka anyways? 😂) cointreau, cranberry and lemon. It. Was. Delicious! And so pretty to look at! Miss Y really liked it, and so did I hehe.
Look how pretty the Pink Koala was! and tasted so so good! 🤤
Me on the other hand, ordered a mocktail 😂. Garden and Elderflower….it was quite delicious! Elderflower is softer in flavours but it kinda tasted like a mojito minus the alcohol but it was still quite tasty. (But Miss Y’s drink was nicer 🤫). It was a nice palate cleanser with the strong flavors of my tenderloin so it was a good drink to get me ready for dessert! 😍
Now onto the most exciting bit….Dessert!! ❤️
So I was wanting to try the panna cotta, because panna cotta is another italian classic but….the wait staff was explaining the chocolate tart to us, how it was made in house… the pictures looked so rich and oozy….all in all it looked delicious (the pictures 😊).
One of Miss Y's favourite Italian desserts is the tiramisu and when we were told that it was made in a more traditional way, used real espresso AND it was called ‘Polpetta Tiramisu’ (so was their signature dish) so we were sold! For the tiramisu 😂.
And when it came out….we were both in heaven.
The tart was so gooey….and rich! The chocolate was so so rich! I’m just glad that they had some mascarpone on the same plate that helped to soften the richness of the chocolate. Chocolate is so delicious, but sometimes when it's too rich, it can overpower the senses.
The tiramisu on the other hand, was so creamy and rich the cream was just the perfect amount and the espresso! The espresso really absorbed into the sponge, it was so flavoursome ❤️. As everyone knows, Miss Y and I love our coffees, so this was like the dessert made exactly for us 😍
